To take advantage of the current spell of excellent weather I've decided to have a premature kick off to the 2022 season with a ride this coming Sunday from Longniddry into Edinburgh returning via the coast.
I've been planning this ride for some
time but a key section, The Innocent Railway , is currently closed through the week but open at weekends.
The route as planned -see link to the map below - utilises several off-road rail paths and takes us out to Pencaitland before heading west
into the centre of Edinburgh.
From there we head down to Leith and Portobello returning along the coast via Prestonpans and Port Seton. Distance approx 38 miles with no challenging hills.
There will be an opportunity for coffee stops at Pencaitland
Start will be from the secondary car park at Longniddry Railway Station , located off the Drem / Ballencrieff Road , at 10am. Parking is free.
I hope some of you can join me. I will also be sharing
this invite to Monday Morning cyclists.
